Businesses must embrace AI and evolve SEO strategies to remain relevant in the competitive online landscape.

In recent months, AI and other cutting-edge technologies have been at the forefront of discussions, but experts say this tech revolution shouldn’t be feared.

head of marketing Federico Vanni giving presentation on AI

On May 12th, Federico Vanni, Head of Organic Marketing at SmartBuyGlasses Optical Group, was invited to speak at one of Italy’s largest tech conferences, Torino Digital Days. The six day event included talks, performances and workshops, all designed to reflect on the future and coexistence of humans with Artificial Intelligence.

With over 13 years of international experience in digital marketing, brand development and search engine optimization (SEO), Vanni spoke first-hand about what he’s seen and does to keep up in a fast-paced industry. He discussed how AI tools like ChatGPT, when used correctly, can empower companies to improve and lead in their industries. “The more the industry and technology evolves, the more you have to keep on top of it.”

Vanni highlighted the importance of using AI carefully in an environment that is constantly changing. “I see AI and tools like ChatGPT as a spark plug for improving the creativity and quality of content companies can create. But we need to be careful and embrace it as a tool to improve our workflows, not as a replacement for human input.”

AI tools and plug-ins are revolutionizing  how we work, create and communicate, but it has limitations in addressing components like brand voice, originality and trustworthiness. Vanni considers them a way to tackle mundane tasks before people step in and add a ‘human touch.’

There will always be a demand for getting an answer to a question. Big search companies like Google want a people-first experience; they want users to seek and receive information from the experts. As Vanni says, “You don’t go to ChatGPT for something life-altering. If you’re feeling sick, you look to a healthcare professional, not AI.”

Vanni concluded the discussion by reminding the room of the need for cautious adoption, stating that Google and other search engines can classify your content as spam should you abuse it. On the other hand, he made it clear that “if you don’t adapt to these tools, competitors will have an advantage and get ahead of you.”
